11th Annual Melbourne Firefighter's Stair Climb 2024

Melb Firefighters 23

On Saturday 7th September 2024, over 700 firefighters, in 25kg of turnout gear and breathing apparatus, took on the challenge of climbing 28 floors of Crown Metropol to raise vital funds for Lifeline, as well as Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation and 000Foundation.

A team of six Crisis Supporters from Lifeline Melbourne also joined firefighters and climbed all 28. In its 11th year, this amazing event broke all records, and raised almost $800,000 in total, with $320,000 to help Lifeline Melbourne answer calls to people in crisis.

Thank you Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb and 000Foundation.

Out of the Shadows 2024

On Sunday the 8th of September 2024, a commemorative Out of the Shadows event was held to remember those lost to suicide and help Australians in crisis. Members of the community joined Lifeline Melbourne, Support After Suicide & The Compassionate Friends Victoria for a short 1km walk around Flagstaff Gardens, followed by a ribbon tying ceremony and the reading of a memorial roll.

A similar event is held each year on or around World Suicide Prevention Day. Stay posted for news of our 2025 event closer to the time.

The Push Up Challenge 2024

2024 Push Up Challenge

All throughout June the community - and a team of staff and volunteers from Lifeline Melbourne - challenged themselves to complete 3,249 push-ups, representing the number of lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2022. These legendary supporters completed over 100,000 push-ups and raised an incredible $15,000 for Lifeline Melbourne.

The 2024 Push-Up Challenge is held annually in June to raise awareness of mental health, to promote physical health, have some fun and raise critical funds for mental health charities, Lifeline and Headspace – including Lifeline Melbourne. Look out for it again in June 2025!

There were 5 key race events - a public fun run open to everyone and 4 feature events with top elite athletes, celebrities challenge, emergency service workers and battle of the schools. Everyone was trying to beat the record for the fastest lap around The Tan (3.827km) of 10:08mins and get an official time.

This is one of the many ways our community supports Lifeline Melbourne. You can always support Lifeline Melbourne by donating to us via our donate page

Paddle Across the Bay 2024

Held on Sunday 25 February 2024 at Green Point, Brighton Beach, Paddle Across The Bay is Australia's largest stand-up paddle event, for the first time travelling from Brighton Beach in a 10k loop, past Elwood and back in beautiful Port Phillip Bay.

Over 300 wonderful paddlers completed the event, coming together with the community to raise over $70,000 for Lifeline, mental health and suicide awareness.

A team of volunteers was delighted to be there in person, to welcome and congratulate all participants.

Paddle Across The Bay is open to everyone, encouraging all fitness and experience levels. You do not have to be a professional paddler or even have tried it before! Paddle Across The Bay is NOT a race. Everyone is encouraged to come out and enjoy the water in a safe and inclusive environment.

We're excited to be back in 2025, meanwhile why not visit paddleacrossthebay.com.au to learn more about the event and to view some wonderful images.
